Introduction
Hi, I’m Arabella! I’m a vocal coach and musician passionate about helping singers build real, usable skills—both with their voice and at the instrument. I often say I’m a musician first and a vocalist second, because I see my voice as a tool to communicate the musical ideas in my head.
My work focuses on giving singers the tools to become more independent, more musical, and more confident in their own artistry.
My Musical Background:
My primary instrument is voice, and I also have a strong foundation in piano, particularly in contemporary styles and collaborative playing.
As a voice-specialized CF SLP, I initially developed my piano skills out of necessity for teaching. Over time, it became much more than that, it evolved into a core part of how I create, teach, and communicate music.
Today, piano is my primary tool for composition and collaboration. Most recently, I worked with a student to write original music for their screenplay, combining songwriting, structure, and storytelling into one process.
Rediscovering Guitar:
When I was in college, I joined a local jazz jam and was encouraged to pick up guitar. I immediately tried to learn all the “spicy” jazz chord shapes at once, and quickly realized how overwhelming that approach was. Our bandleader encouraged me to take a step back and focus on the basics: simple scales and “campfire chords” first, then add complexity later. He emphasized that the real key in music is listening and communication, not having the most advanced chord shapes.
Anyone can learn more complex shapes over time, but being able to sit down, stay in time, and make music with a foundational set of skills is underrated, and incredibly powerful.
Launching Fireside Guitar:
That became the crux of how I later hired guitar teachers and taught myself to play. Our philosophy is that it doesn’t have to be super complicated to jam. A couple of basic guitar chord shapes, understanding the basic pop progressions, and how to use the minor pentatonic scale to solo over the tune, can basically get you jamming, and make you seem a lot more professional in a short amount of time. This site isn’t meant to replace learning the vocabulary of a specific genre, but it is meant to get you started.
